Seeing as how last Friday's post also focused on friendship I should probably rename this portion of my blog "Friendship Fridays". Yesterday while at work, one of my best friends stopped in. As we were chatting, we got to talking about how every brunette needs a blonde best friend (and vice versa). Don't get me wrong, I need all my other best friends as well, but the blonde/brunette combo is a necessary force in our universe. This morning when I woke up I got to thinking about all the blonde/brunette duos out there, both fictional and real, and how well they compliment each other when put together. The following is a list of my favorite blonde-brunette besties of all time:
1. Betty and Veronica
Not technically from our decade, but they were definitely still current when I was growing up. Betty and Veronica's friendship has survived boy troubles since the fifties, and if a friendship can make it that long then I'd say you've got a bestie that you should hold onto forever.
2. Blair and Serena
Gossip Girl may be over but this friendship is anything but. Sure, they've had their ups and downs but these two always find a way to put their differences aside and keep their life long friendship alive.
3. Lizzie and Gordo
Flashback to your days in middle school when we got to watch this adorable pair every Saturday morning. I considered putting Lizzie and Miranda here, but everyone knows that Gordo was a true pal until the very end. I mean, come on, Miranda didn't even make it into the movie.
4. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler
Anyone who watched this year's Golden Globes will understand why the world of acting could not survive without this friendship. Be it SNL, their cheesy movies or clips like the one below, these two never fail to make us laugh.
5. Seth Cohen and Ryan Atwood
As I contemplated putting Marissa and Summer for my OC best friend pair of choice, I knew that this slot could not be filled by anyone other than this classic California bromance. Crossing a wealthy, dorky Jew with a kid from the wrong side of the tracks? As Seth Cohen once exclaimed: "EU-REKA RYAN. EU-FREAKING-REKA."
6. Elphaba and Galinda
Even in the world of musical theatre the blonde and the brunette duo are not forgotten. Sure, there were troubles along the way, but these two ultimately did more good for each other than bad. If you're as cheesy as I am you'll listen to the song below which explains this ideal friendship.
7. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn
Not only did they make an unforgettable duo as they crashed weddings and helped each other wheel the finest ladies there, these two remain friends to this day. I have yet to see their new flick, but if it demonstrates a friendship like any of their previous material, I'm going to have to give it a shot.
8. Cher and Dionne from "Clueless"
You know you're destined to be friends when you come across someone else who is also named after a famous pop star. Sure, their hobbies mostly included driving on the wrong side of the road, figuring out how to raise an F to a B+ and making over the unpopular, but these two prove that even in the elite town of Beverly Hills, a brunette still needs her blondie.
9. Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift
They both come across as extremely sweet and poised, but I have a feeling these girls go wild over brunch, drinking and gossiping about their Hollywood peers, and how they've even got the tabloids fooled about their innocent personas. Nevertheless, any friendship that can survive Hollywood is one for the books.
10. Caroline and Max from "2 Broke Girls"
When somebody takes you in when you have no job, no money and no place to live, you know you've got to hold onto that friend and never let go. Proof that even when you hit rock bottom, there will still be someone there to pick you up.
11. Lucy Hale and Ashley Benson
Among the Pretty Little Liars cast lies another blonde-brunette duo. Constantly spamming my instagram with pics of themselves living up their glamorous lifestyle I have more than enough proof to state that this friendship is just as real off-screen as it is on.
