Lately I've taking the time to focus on myself and have been doing my best to try and grow as a person. I agree that it's important to help others, but I also believe that in helping ourselves get to a place where we feel happy that it will begin to rub off those around us. When I left my house this afternoon I was already in a good mood and when I got to work that mood began to amplify. Whether it was the successful yoga practice I had before I left or the Luna bar I chowed down on the way that gave me such a high level energy, I decided not to question it but to enjoy it and share it with the people around me. I worked at the frozen yogurt shop today and although I always do my best to be friendly while on the till I don't always strike up conversations with the customers. Today I tried my best to engage with almost every person who came up, asking them questions, smiling, and just acted even friendlier than usual. I made it my goal to try and make everyone leave my till with a smile on their face. It may seem like a simple concept, but I know that when I encounter a grouchy cashier I always leave with a sour taste in my mouth. I slipped up a couple times, going back to my casual ways for a few visitors, but I noticed that this really helped make my shift more enjoyable. Think about the way you react when someone smiles at you or takes an extra moment to ask how your day is going--it always feels good, doesn't it? My challenge to anyone reading this is to make at least three people smile today. I guarantee you it will not only make them feel better, but I can almost guarantee you'll feel better about yourself as well. Here are a few fun things I've come across online that will hopefully put you in a gleeful mindset before you spread a little love...
